The mud hut
A refugee camp in northern Uganda, a question I could not put down, and the day I stopped believing strategy alone was enough.
Brad Hobbs, Ph.D.
Architecting moonshots for high-capacity missional leaders: CEOs of faith-driven enterprises, heads of national and global nonprofits, and pastors of the largest churches in the world. A Ph.D. in change management who has sat in your seat, from a Fortune 500 boardroom to giga churches and global nonprofits.
Most engagements begin with an introduction. CEO and Founder, Novum Partners, San Antonio.
Enterprise CEOs
Founder-led and family-led enterprises where the next chapter never comes from the playbook that built the last one.
National and global nonprofits
Mission organizations whose vision has outrun their capacity, with boards done funding plans that never get built.
The largest churches
Multi-campus churches and networks with staff in the hundreds, public numbers, and a founder transition somewhere on the horizon.
Who Brad is
Brad Hobbs has spent twenty years in the seat his clients sit in.
He ran a global leadership development organization on four continents before he was thirty. He planted and pastored a church in Mobile, Alabama while earning a Ph.D. in organizational leadership and change management. He spent three years as Executive Director of the Coca-Cola Consolidated foundation, reporting directly to CEO Frank Harrison, where he first saw enterprise-level strategy, finance, and people done at their best and got his first exposure to ultra-high-net-worth family offices. He served as executive pastor through a founder transition at one of the largest multi-campus churches in the country.
Then he built Novum Partners, a strategic management firm that has served more than 400 organizations, because the strategy he was handing leaders kept dying on contact with the capacity of the teams meant to carry it. Most advice a leader gets is correct and useless. It assumes a capacity the organization does not have.
Every sector calls the problem by a different name. The pressures are the same. Brad translates across the sectors, names where the enterprise will break next, and builds the one that can carry the vision.
"What PwC, Bain, and McKinsey are to the Fortune 500 is what I had access to at Coke. The question that built my career is how you take that framework horsepower and put it to the highest-capacity churches, networks, and nonprofits." Brad Hobbs
The intellectual property
Enterprises do not grow in a straight line. They cross thresholds, and each crossing changes what they are. Brad's frameworks name the season a leader is in, where the organization breaks next, and what has to be true to cross.
A leadership team and systems, not charisma and cash. The organization survives a storm or a partner walking out.
Fast-growing enterprises hit quicksand around $30M and live there until $50M or $60M unless rhythms and structure change.
Multiple C-suite seats. The founder can no longer hold and integrate everything. Decision rights and a governance board.
A ten-year vision, a three-year strategy, and a 25-year trajectory, because it is easier to pivot than to undo the last five years.
Serial entrepreneur to enterprise leader. Give God the credit, transfer the authority, build what outlasts you.
"Besides McKinsey, I have not seen an equal."
"He's a visionary leader, but he's playing chess every day, and he knows every step to get to the next step. And I trust that about him."
How Brad works with a leader
Advisory
Brad advises a small number of CEOs, senior pastors, and executive directors directly: the founder transition, the succession, the board that has to change shape, the decision that shapes the next decade. Most of these relationships begin with an introduction from someone who has sat at that table with him.

Strategy only matters if there is capacity to carry it. Brad founded Novum Partners, a strategic management firm serving faith-driven businesses, churches, and nonprofits, to build and run the finance, people, and technology infrastructure the vision needs. When the work moves from counsel to construction, it moves to Novum.
